Kia ora all and welcome to Room 12's Blog!

2013 is going to be a great year! We are off to an amazing start - we really wanted to win the Fun Run competition and we did! We have our first trophy and we are looking forward to all the other cool inter-class tournaments that will be happening this year!

Syndicate Trip

On Tuesday the 11th of september Piwakawaka Syndicate went to Te Rapraha Arena in porirua. We went swimming and we also went to the sports centre there! We had swimming competitions for free style and then we had class relays for free style. When we went to the spots courts we were blown away because there were 3 courts all conected and they all had score boards with easy to use remotes.

We had three games set up; Hockey, Netball and Basketball. We roatated in our groups and when we had finished that we had some free time to play anything that we want!

Over all the whole trip was great fun!!!

Inquiry-Sustainability

This week we have started doing our inquiry's. Because of our school wide topic; Sustainability!
We are making a question in our groups, then we search it up and put it on either a google doc, power point or we make it into a pamphlet. Yay!
    The whole point of inquiry is to find out things that you don't already know. We are trying to prove that if you already know something that you are studying it is pointless. We are basing our inquiry's on food. Helthy food that is.
   In our groups we will be doing lots of different things, like interviewing people, and reasearching for things but not on the internet.

Writing with Miss Roche

This term we have been really lucky to get a student teacher.Her name is Miss Roche.She is really nice and helpful.She has been observing our class and how we learn.This to help her so that she can become a teacher.

Last week she taught us during class.We did some writing with her and it was really fun.We wrote about an imaginable creature that she put up on the projector and we made up a story about it.There were two creatures that we got to choose from,there was an Alleevipus or an Bunkfitor.We had to include where the creature lived,what it ate,what it looks like,what it feels like,sounds like,how it moves,it's personality and most importantly using DESCRIPTIVE WORDS.

Maori Resource

In Room 3 like many others we have been working on our Maori Resource. It was the 3rd of August around 11:30 am and Miss T was walking down the corridor towards Room 3. She came in and there was silence; because we weren't exactly ready but it was now or never. So off our groups went one at a time. We had seven groups, all looking fantastic.

Time went by so quickly that we had to take up Room 5's time as well. In the end it took till lunch time to get all seven of our groups done. Personaly I think that we might be able to win this comp.
